Week 34: The Last Survivor ( week 25th on the field)

  So, why did I title my week, "The last survivor"?  Well, now, I'm the only one from my 1st transfer still here in my zone.  Sister Gallarde had been in my district SINCE THE MTC (missionary training center) all the way back in July of last year! BUT, she left on Thursday to Fukuoka where she will do marvellous things.  Since transfer 1, Elder Boll, Elder Barlow, Elder Wheeler,  Elder Nakata, Sister Baquinquito, and Sister Miyaki returned home.  Elder Lim, Elder Howell and Elder Howells were transferred.  Sister Hippolite and Sister Spendlove were also transferred out, and the one and only Elder Uhlig was transferred out too!  I'm the Lone Survivor!!  That's crazy when you spend 5 transfers (each transfer being 6 weeks) in your bean (first) area.  I might be the only person in the mission that can say that they've been in their first area for 5 weeks.  I still have work to do in this area so I'll work hard and show the Lord that I won't waste my time while I'm here though.
   
   This week was sorting out transfers-- as every 6th week is.  But as a zone, our missionaries were able to put together a "#whythebadge" video -https://www.facebook.com/kaito.takahashi.902/videos/1909499902513014/ and each of us posted a message on Facebook as to why we decided to go out on a mission.  If anyone would like to see it, go to Facebook and give it a look. Hey,     So the Thanksgiving was rough... at least to start.  We had P-day (Preparation day) last Thursday, and between a gap of fishing and actually eating Thanksgiving dinner, there were a bunch of logistical errors.  The senior couple missionaries set up Thanksgiving dinner so that us, younger, missionaries could have Thanksgiving on one of US Air bases.  They set it up so that some districts or companionships would make it on on of U.S. military bases and others would be treated by military families off base.  So my district (excluding Elder Inamori and Elder Takahashi--whom would have Thanksgiving off base), were to go with the Patterson's.  Elder Boll and Elder Palu were also supposed to go on the base, but with a family named the Tucket's.  The six of us then met at the Okinawan Chapel to be picked up.  Brother Tucket then came to pick up Elder Boll and Elder Palu.  They left, but about 5 minutes later,  they ...

Week 22: Hello's and Goodbye's (Week 13 on the field)

Hey,   Almost everyone got transferred in the Naha Zone.  All of the polynesians are gone, new faces came in, and it's a new era of Naha Zone Elders and Sisters.  Out of our zone, Hippolite しまい/Shimai (Sister)  was transferred and a Naha sister, Rush しまい , took her place.  Elder Boll died (I know, that sounds horrible, but this is what missionaries call "going home"), Elder Palu was transferred to Kagoshima, and Elder Lim was sent to another area (I don't remember where).  Also, The Naha しまい only have a two-man since Baquinquito しまい died and Spendlove しまい was transferred to Fukuoka.  Everyone else stayed; I stayed, Gallarde しまい stayed in Shuri, Elder Takahashi stayed in Itoman, Elder Uhlig is still my companion.  It was hard saying goodbye.  Many of my friends were headed out and I'm not sure if I'll see many of them later.  Elder Palu, in the last 2 minutes before going through security, gave away his uke...

Week 12: Typhoons, Zone Conference, and No General conference?!? (Week 3 on the field)

Hey,   So, this week is the second straight week we've had a typhoon, and it was during our zone conference.  We went up to Okinawa city and met with our mission president.  There was this giant meeting and they're switching everything up.  It seems like I am always being a guinea pig but it's all good.  We get new flyers that we pass out and it's more oriented on helping other people and their personal affairs.  It's a tri-fold with a whole bunch of QR codes. They have sections on Family Affairs (That has things like "how to make a family stronger," "addiction recovery," "marriage help," and etc), Volunteering (a service site), Family History, Education help, Eikaiwa *(This changed a bunch also-this'll help people a lot more), and how to find a work-life balance.  It's an interesting thing, but I'm not sure how things are going to go.    My companion, Elder Uhlig is super nice.  H...
