Week 47: First lesson of a transfer... and dropped (week 38th on the field)

Image
Hello,    Yeah... we got dropped.  So, the last lesson we had with this person, we invited this woman to be baptized, but she thought she wasn't ready for that, and needed time to think.  Because she goes to Kagoshima a lot, we weren't able to meet up for almost a month.  In that time, I think doubt crept in and she had lots of time to contemplate on that.  At the last lesson, she said that it would be something she'd want to do and knew it was important, but wasn't ready for a date yet.  So this time when we met, she said that even though she stumbled a bit with what words to use, the day before the lesson she realized that she was happy with where she was in life, and I think that finding out what baptism meant during the lesson probably got to her.  She told us that she was predetermined to stop lessons before she came to this lesson, so, I'm kind of sad about that.  Even though we love people and desire their salvation, some...

Week 46: With great power comes great responsibility! (week 37th on the field)

Hey,    So it's been a nice short week in Amami.  Well, first, let me start off with leaving to Kagoshima. Well, our boat ride wasn't the best boat ever, but it was alright.  This one was from the company Marix Line, and the economy is a bit worse than the other A Line boat.  Remember how I said that the boat ride had a block of stiff foam covered in leather, which I called "The Brick", well, that was still there, and the blankets were thinner than the other ones.  Unfortunately they still smelled like they hadn't been washed in a while.  The worst thing was the fact that they had no dividers.  Everyone is sleeping next to each other, and there is no stopping from the person next to you rolling on top of you while you're sleeping.  It was at least better than standing up though... every time we would take a step it was almost as if we were drunk.  Well, when we arrived in Kagoshima, we were picked up by the senior couple mi...

Week 45: Going, Going, Gone! (week 36th on the field)

Hey again,    So the reason I set the title as Going, Going, Gone! is because Elder Pauperio is leaving.  He was sure going this transfer.  We improved efforts so much since last transfer, and we've definitely seen tons of miracles.  I get a new companion, but I still haven't received the transfer call yet, so I don't know what to expect.  All I know is that I'm supposed to head to Kagoshima to drop off Elder Pauperio so he can go to Fukuoka by tomorrow morning.  We are taking the boat again... that's another 12 hour trip (I have the round trip so that's 24 hours for me).  Plus, we leave tonight, get into Kagoshima tomorrow morning (Wednesday), Elder Pauperio leaves to go to the Fukuoka Elders' apartment, and I stay in Kagoshima--I think--till transfers on Thursday.  I will probably then do the same thing that Elder Pauperio and I did last transfer week and stay over till Friday, ride back and come home on Saturday.  It wil...

Week 44: Busy Sunday & Full of Miracles

Hey,    This week we got reactivated a returning member!!!! Woo!!! I'm glad we're being watched over by the Lord. He truly does show us results when we put our energy in 100%. We've been putting in the work! This past week we saw a huge miracle! We went to visit a Returning member since they came to church the previous Sunday but left right after taking the sacrament so we went to say that we loved seeing her at church and probably end there and go home. When we got to her house, we were surprised to find out that it was her Birthday... too bad we didn't have anything to give--BUT, she was struggling with a couple things and we asked her if she wanted a blessing and she accepted. So, Elder Pauperio and I tried our best to give a blessing of healing with the stuff we knew in English but the entire blessing was done in Japanese so I hope that even though we may had made errors that it counts in heaven... hehe... I bet it does.     We also had our Brazilian Cooki...
