Week 19: The end of Thanksgiving & So on (Week 10 on the field)

Image
Hey,     So the Thanksgiving was rough... at least to start.  We had P-day (Preparation day) last Thursday, and between a gap of fishing and actually eating Thanksgiving dinner, there were a bunch of logistical errors.  The senior couple missionaries set up Thanksgiving dinner so that us, younger, missionaries could have Thanksgiving on one of US Air bases.  They set it up so that some districts or companionships would make it on on of U.S. military bases and others would be treated by military families off base.  So my district (excluding Elder Inamori and Elder Takahashi--whom would have Thanksgiving off base), were to go with the Patterson's.  Elder Boll and Elder Palu were also supposed to go on the base, but with a family named the Tucket's.  The six of us then met at the Okinawan Chapel to be picked up.  Brother Tucket then came to pick up Elder Boll and Elder Palu.  They left, but about 5 minutes later,  they ...

Week 18: Zone Conference & Thanksgiving (Week 9 on the field)

Hey,    It's been a while but that's because this week was Zone Conference.     I'll explain more in a bit.  Elder Uhlig and I are working super hard.  We DENDO (spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ) anytime we can.  Since Elder Uhlig is now a zone leader, and we live 20 minutes away from the other zone leader, Elder Palu and I go on splits (companion exchanges) a lot.  We've been given the focus of going and visiting less active members, but that's not all we do. President Mack really likes to emphasize the focus that we should get to know the members more and build relationships so we can get more investigators in a different way.  We've visited families along the way and It's been full of miracles.  I've been to visits with Elder Uhlig and Elder Palu. During zone conference, all the other, smaller, island missionaries flew in to Okinawa. You guessed it... Elder Lee was there! It's been the same amount of time I've been in...

Week 17: My Food Paradise!!

Image
Hey,             So, I titled this week, “My Food Paradise” for a reason.   I love food!   I think my motto is "Elder, do you know what time it is? It's time to get a snack!!"   Hahaha.   I got a care package a couple weeks ago from my parents, and I'm almost done eating all the food in it.   They sent me a bag of Smarties, 2 bags of M&M's, 2 boxes of cereal, and 2 boxes of granola bars, and I only have1 box of cereal and 1 bag of M&M's left.   I eat so much food.   People keep wondering the same thing, "Elder Wilson, how can you eat so much?!?"   I tell them the same thing, "I don't know, I just do."   Oh, and I love Japanese food.   BTW, I've figured out that Japan has one of my favorite places to eat: A&W!!!!!   Since this month it Okinawa's A&W's 55th anniversary, they run a special that I could get unlimited refills on Root Beer.   We went on Wedne...

Week 16: Halloween Riot!! (Week 7 on the field)

Image
Hey, The Halloween Party this week was a HOOT! There were about 150 kids who came to the church.   It felt like a riot. Hahaha!   We had so many games and stuff set up.   It was actually a great time.   Elder Howell left the day before, so Elder Palu and Elder Howells came to Naha to stay the night.   We had a great time setting up everything, and during the party, we were just stationed around everywhere.   Elder Palu got the facepaint of a scary clown and went to "Help out" with the Haunted House that the Young Men and Young Women created (Elder Palu would jump out and scare people as they rounded a corner).   I was dressed as Mario and had on a mustache that I bought at Daiso (It's pretty much a Japanese Dollar store).   So I wore that.    A funny thing was that random people came up to me and took photos with me.   I even heard some girls talking about me a bit aways and they were like "That Mario over there is...
