Hey,
So,
I titled this week, “My Food Paradise” for a reason. I love food!
I think my motto is "Elder, do you know what time it is? It's time
to get a snack!!" Hahaha. I got a care package a couple weeks ago from
my parents, and I'm almost done eating all the food in it. They sent me a bag of Smarties, 2 bags of
M&M's, 2 boxes of cereal, and 2 boxes of granola bars, and I only have1 box
of cereal and 1 bag of M&M's left. I
eat so much food. People keep wondering
the same thing, "Elder Wilson, how can you eat so much?!?" I tell them the same thing, "I don't
know, I just do." Oh, and I love
Japanese food. BTW, I've figured out
that Japan has one of my favorite places to eat: A&W!!!!! Since this month it Okinawa's A&W's 55th
anniversary, they run a special that I could get unlimited refills on Root
Beer. We went on Wednesday and it was a
Root Beer paradise!!! At least, I held back and only got 1 refill of Root
Beer. I'm making it a thing with Elder
Uhlig that we make Wednesday's, “A&W Wednesday's” or
"A&Wednesdays" if you will.
It was so good. They not only
gave you refills, but with a mug you get, they replace it with one that is
covered in frost. It was awesome. It's great to have a splash of MURICA
sometimes. Okinawa is kind of like
Hawaii. First, it had its own culture
that was put aside as it was taken over. Second, it has that island vibe. Third, people wear island shirts everywhere. It's like, everywhere I look, there's a
person with a floral island shirt... you know, the ones you see in Hawaii when
you go to a gift shop. Okinawa is so
fun. Then, there is this place called
Blue Seal and it is an ice cream shop.
On the 10th and 20th of each month, they sell 3 scoops of Ice cream for
a regular 1 scoop’s price. We had that a
couple days ago (It was only 400yen or about $4). I still got so much to try in Japan. There's
just so much good food here! The Food
Paradise!!!
Today,
Elder Boll, Elder Palu, Elder Uhlig, and I went fishing. I miss fishing, but luckily we're allowed to
do it on P-day which we have one day a week. We caught 3 fish. We had to throw them back though since none one
of us knew if it was okay to eat or not. Plus they were rock fish and kind of small so
we said "Screw it" and threw them back. Then we got to the church and played touch
Rugby. It's so fun. Especially since I go full out when I play
anything... and I do mean anything. I
guess it's just the Wilson Fire burning within me.
We
visited many returning members this week.
I've worked hard and I've become tired when I get home every night
(That's not a bad thing though... It means I'm doing my best). It should be fine. As I continue to get into a rhythm, I should
be good. We've found that a lot of the
people that are on the records of the ward are either dead or have moved... but
there are a few that have turned into miracles. Elder Uhlig has had me come up
with routes and lead us in those routes I've made during night Dendo. We found a person that has been praying for
good missionaries to come up to her house so she could set up an appointment
for her daughter to come to church. We're going to her house on Saturday so I
think it'll be great. Elder Uhlig and I
are working hard, and I'm feeling more and more confident to lead others. It will take a bit of time, but as I trust in
God, I know I'm able to do anything. We're doing our best to be as obedient as
possible and bond in unity with His spirit.
BTW, a dude almost called the cops
on us yesterday. We were doing a regular
Dendo route and knocking on apartment doors. When we got to the 2nd floor, on the 1st door,
we were talking to this dude who just opened the door a crack. I said "Hello! I'm Elder Wilson from
America. My friend and I are
missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints..." Before I could say anything else, he said
"Kekko desu! Kekko desu!" (Means no thank you) and closed the door. It happens often, so we headed to the next
door...no answer. After a bit, we were
heading up the stairs, and as Elder Uhlig was already at the top of the stairs
and I was just going up, and then the dude came back out and said "Kekko
desu! Kekko desu! No one's here! Kekko desu! Kekko desu!" I said "Okay, I understand. I'll tell my
friend." He then responded
"Kekko desu! Leave! Go Home!" and closed the door. I headed up to
Elder Uhlig and he's already done the 1st door when I got up and he just
started the last one. I told him what
happened, and we just finished the last door and headed down. When we got to the staircase, the dude was at
the bottom coming up. He then said, more
vigorously this time, "Kekko desu! Kekko desu! Go home! We don't need you
here! Leave!" Elder Uhlig said
"Okay. We understand. We just finished. We're leaving now." He was blocking our way down so we didn't want
to step closer. The dude got off of the
staircase, but still blocking the way down, said "Leave now! I'm gonna
call the cops!" He finally got
close enough to his door that we were able to leave but he kept saying the same
thing and that he'd call the cops. I'm
glad that we were able to leave. He
seemed like if we were to be there any longer, he would've done something
unexpected. He was getting more
ferocious as he said "Go home." I couldn't think of anything else for the rest
of the night. I kept thinking stuff like
"What would he do if we were still there? What would he have told the cops? Would he have lied? What would the cops do?" and so on. I doubt he would've done anything to harm
us... it's Japan…right?! It's pretty
safe here. Plus there are 2 of us. I'm glad though I was later able to get rid of
that bad feeling as I thought more and more of the Savior and his love for all
of us. I think that we're able to do anything
as we look towards our Savior, Jesus Christ. So, please look to him. As you do so, your doubts, fears, and bad
thoughts will go away. Love you all!
