Week 23: Merry Christmas!!!!

Hey,
Yeah, so my P-day is on Christmas.  This year, our mission president allowed us to select when we wanted to have our p-day this week; whether it was the 24th, 25th, or 26th (Over in Japan). So, We chose Christmas.  This week, I went without my companion for most of it.  He's a Zone Leader and a District Leader, so he had to put together a zone conference and had a Mission Leaders' Conference over in Fukuoka all in one week (last week).  I was with Elder Bodily; Who is new to the Naha Area-- The funny thing is, he's been in Urasoe more than he has in Naha.

Well, Elder Uhlig and I are back at it again.  It doesn't seem like Christmas this year!  In Okinawa, it's pretty much Hawaii so there is no snow.  Right now, it's even 64 degrees!  This week had lots of Christmas Carolings.  Elder Uhlig and I also played our last violin/cello duet gigs and returned our instruments back to the member we borrowed them from.  I received a Christmas package from my family this week as well.  Inside of it were almost 20 different Christmas presents: 12 of which were for the 12 days of Christmas scripture scavenger hunt they gave me. The instructions said to open a present a day and the hint was the scripture provided on the present.  I'm so glad I was able to choose this remarkable family during the premortal life.  They were even kind enough to send 2 presents for my companion, Elder Uhlig.

This year we really followed the wisdom from the movie "Elf". Hahaha.
The wisdom is: "The fastest way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear."   We sure sung and sung and sung.  Though all the stuff we get for Christmas is great, let's not forget the real reason behind Christmas; Christ!  He's the reason we're able to return back to our Father in Heaven.  We are able to experience so much joy because of His love for us.  He lived and died for us. We get to celebrate the birth of the spectacular being who not only conquered death, but fulfilled all righteousness.  And he has risen!!  Jesus Christ is my beloved Savior and Redeemer.  I love him so much!  Love him with all your heart and soul. Today was a birth of our Savior!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Elder Jacob Wilson

P.S. I'm so glad that I'm able to talk to my fam on skype tomorrow. We, missionaries, get to speak through Skype twice a year (Christmas and Mother's day)
