Week 43: Happy Mother's Day! (week 34th on the field)

Heyyy,
It's Mother's Day, so I just want to make a quick shout out to the best mom in the world--MY MOM!
I've come to really cherish everything my mom has done for me.  She and my dad prepared me for this wonderful experience.  My mom has been with me through tough times and times when I feel like I'm down and out.  My mom is the best mom ever!  She is so smart!  She is so loving! She is so GOOD at cooking!  She's so virtuous! She's so hard-working!  She is such a good role model since she truly is quick to observe.  I love how much she has taught me.  I totally appreciate the fact that she is SUPER GOOD AT ENGLISH!  After being around not so good English, I can say her English is so much better than I gave her credit for.  This Mother's day, although I'm not with her, I truly send my love to her 7200+ miles away.  Love you mom!

This week, I got the BEST compliment any companion can give.  Yes, THE BEST compliment! Elder Pauperio said, "Even though we've been together for only 3 weeks, I feel like I've had more fun with you than any other companion."  That's quite a compliment from someone who is dying in 2 weeks.  He also said, "Elder Wilson, you've also been my easiest companion. I'm so glad about that."  When a person goes throughout their mission, they're stuck with people from all around the world whom they've never met.  It's totally a compliment when someone appreciates you for... YOU!  I don't need to act like someone else because that's not who I am.  I am a Child of God, and I want to show everyone else that they are worth much more than they think.  I'm glad to have a companion that appreciates that!  He truly is a humble person.  One of the most humble people I've met on the mission.  He's broken barriers, he's faced his fears, and he is truly a blessing.  I'm glad that after I transferred for the first time, I had someone that wasn't hard to work with.
Besides that, This past week, we saw so many miracles.  One of them went as such: After visiting a Returning member, we decided to go house around the area. We encountered a lady who met the missionaries a year ago but hadn't talked to one since.  We got into a good discussion and she was super kind.  The part that I think was the miracle was that thee day we talked to her in person was her ONLY day off.  The miracle is that we met her on the only day she was given work off.  In a culture that doesn't have a Christian background, Sunday is treated just like any other day.  Sometimes, it's a rest off of work but the majority work on weekends and it is super hard to ask someone "Hey, could you quit your job so you could come to church?" if they don't have a firm testimony that everything will be okay, that would be so hard.  The testimony and knowledge come in time. It may not be all the sudden but the blessing are showering upon all of us.  That was basically my week.

Love y'all eternally,

Elder Jacob Wilson
